\n Can Education Become a Lever of Global Peace?\n <\/h2>\n

\n Peace is not negotiated first. It is prepared through education. The way societies teach, reason and transmit shapes their structural capacity for stability.\n <\/p>\n

\n This article is the third and final part of a three-part reflection on knowledge, transmission and stability.\n The first examined institutional memory through Alexandria<\/a>.\n The second explored childhood as the first political territory<\/a>.\n This final text questions the necessity of recognising education itself as a structural lever of global peace.\n <\/p>\n\n

\n Rethinking Stability Through Intellectual Transmission\n <\/h2>\n

\n Global peace is often addressed in the language of treaties, deterrence, alliances and sanctions.\n <\/p>\n

\n It is rarely addressed in the language of education.\n <\/p>\n

\n Diplomacy is thought in terms of power, negotiation and strategic interests.\n Education is envisaged as a social policy, a lever of economic development or employability.\n <\/p>\n

\n Yet another reading is possible.\n <\/p>\n

\n Education that is structured, rigorous and institutionally protected can strengthen a society’s cognitive and deliberative resilience.\n Conversely, its instrumentalisation or ideological reduction can deepen certain fragilities.\n <\/p>\n

\n Peace is not born only from the absence of war.\n It is born from the capacity of societies to understand, deliberate and transmit responsibly.\n <\/p>\n\n

\n Education, the Missing Variable of Peace Strategies\n <\/h2>\n

\n International institutions widely recognise education as a lever of development.\n Its function as a durable infrastructure of stability nonetheless remains less central to peace strategies.\n <\/p>\n

\n Education shapes more than competences.\n It shapes imaginaries, structures of authority, and the way difference is interpreted.\n <\/p>\n

\n A population trained in critical reasoning is less vulnerable to simplification.\n A system that privileges obedience over judgement can increase vulnerability to manipulation and polarisation.\n <\/p>\n

\n This is not idealism.\n It is structure.\n <\/p>\n

\n Peace is not negotiated first. It is prepared through the way societies teach complexity, difference and responsibility.\n <\/p>\n\n

\n Where Education Sustains Complexity, Fragility Recedes\n <\/h2>\n

\n Across markedly different cultural and economic contexts, a constant emerges.\n <\/p>\n

\n The second part of this series<\/a> returned to what Romania and certain regions of Africa make observable: environments where transmission was held to be serious, irrespective of available means.\n <\/p>\n

\n The stabilising factor there was not wealth.\n It was the seriousness with which knowledge was transmitted.\n <\/p>\n\n

\n What Education Makes Less Probable\n <\/h2>\n

\n A structured educational system can reduce certain conditions that enable radicalisation: the violent simplification of reality, the dehumanisation of difference, the erasure of historical depth, and the automatic inheritance of resentment.\n <\/p>\n

\n Education does not eliminate conflict.\n It can, however, strengthen a society’s capacity to contain escalation and preserve the conditions of civil disagreement.\n <\/p>\n

\n Peace is not a static state.\n It is a continually negotiated equilibrium.\n <\/p>\n

\n This negotiation begins well before formal diplomacy, in the way societies teach children to think.\n <\/p>\n\n

\n Educational Diplomacy as Long-Term Stability\n <\/h2>\n

\n Educational diplomacy<\/a> is not a slogan.\n It is a long-term governance approach.\n <\/p>\n

\n It does not seek to universalise educational models.\n It aims to render diverse systems mutually intelligible.\n <\/p>\n

\n Uniformity does not produce peace.\n Intelligibility does.\n <\/p>\n

\n When educational systems recognise their respective intellectual architectures without seeking dominance, they create more stable conditions for cooperation and mutual recognition.\n <\/p>\n

\n When education becomes an instrument of cultural imposition or ungoverned influence, it can generate resistance and weaken cooperation.\n <\/p>\n

\n Peace requires recognition, not standardisation.\n <\/p>\n\n

\n Performance Without Depth: A Contemporary Risk\n <\/h2>\n

\n The growing global emphasis on indicators, efficiency and short-term performance has narrowed the educational horizon.\n <\/p>\n

\n Competences and employability are necessary.\n They are not sufficient.\n <\/p>\n

\n An educational system centred exclusively on measurable competences and employability can produce efficiency without securing historical depth, critical judgement or cognitive resilience.\n <\/p>\n

\n Societies deprived of cognitive resilience become more vulnerable to manipulation, polarisation and reactive politics.\n <\/p>\n

\n Fragility precedes conflict.\n <\/p>\n\n

\n Education as a Strategic Global Good\n <\/h2>\n

\n If peace is to be more than temporary containment, education must be recognised as a strategic infrastructure.\n <\/p>\n

\n It requires institutional protection, rigorous governance, resistance to excessive commodification, and geopolitical recognition.\n <\/p>\n

\n Investing in education is not an act of generosity.\n It is an act of strategic lucidity.\n <\/p>\n\n

\n Conclusion: Peace Is Taught Before It Is Negotiated\n <\/h2>\n

\n Peace cannot be decreed.\n It is prepared in the cognitive and institutional conditions that allow societies to understand, deliberate and transmit.\n <\/p>\n

\n Treating education as a lever of peace does not mean attributing to it the power to abolish conflict.\n It means recognising its capacity to strengthen historical depth, judgement and intelligibility between systems.\n <\/p>\n

\n Educational diplomacy then becomes neither a slogan nor a peripheral policy.\n It becomes a long-term institutional responsibility.\n <\/p>\n

\n The real question is not only whether we desire peace.\n It is whether we are prepared to build the educational conditions that make it sustainable.\n <\/p>\n<\/section>\n\n\n
