    Why this corpus exists

    The Readings of the House

The Readings of the House are the public corpus of institutional readings conducted by Diligence Consulting, the House of Educational Diplomacy. Each Reading publishes the structural analysis of a real institutional case, anonymised to protect the institution while preserving the doctrinal lesson.

The corpus makes visible what is usually invisible. The grammar a Rectorat applies before it answers. The reading an investor performs before valuing a brand. The examination a regulator conducts before recognising a programme. These readings exist. They are simply not written. The House writes them.

Each Reading begins with a certainty the decision-maker could legitimately hold. It reveals the blind spot that completes the consequences. It examines the anonymised case in which that structure was manifested. It delivers a doctrinal verdict on the defensibility observed.

Each institutional reading replaces a certainty with a better question.

    Definition

    What are institutional readings?

Institutional readings are structural examinations of projects before they become irreversible. They evaluate a project’s capacity to be read, defended, assigned and sustained by the institutional system that will have to authorise, register and uphold it. They are distinct from compliance audits, market studies and financial due diligence. They precede them.

Each Reading published here is the anonymised application of the doctrinal grid presented in the founding text Institutional Reading: Why Promising Projects Fail. Read together, the founding text and the Readings of the House form the public doctrine of the House. The full discipline is set out under Educational Diplomacy.

The corpus is curated. It is not exhaustive. It is doctrinally selective. Each Reading is chosen because it makes visible a friction that recurs across many institutions, not because it documents a unique case.

Growth multiplies authorisations before it builds the governance that carries them.

Verdict · Untenable at constant exposure Published · 12 August 2026

    Certainty

Informal governance is enough as long as everything works.

    Blind spot

Each undocumented decision accumulates into an exposure no later correction can unwind.

    Certainty

Our brand is enough to defend us.

    Blind spot

A brand defends reputation. It does not defend institutional structure.

    The method

How each institutional reading is built

Each Reading published in this corpus follows a constant structure. The structure is not a template. It is the public form of a doctrinal grammar. The reader follows the same path the system follows.

    Step I

The certainty. A statement the decision-maker could legitimately hold. Rarely false. Almost always incomplete.

    Step II

The blind spot. What the certainty did not include. The friction visible from the system, not from inside the project.

    Step III

The consequence. What changes structurally if the blind spot is not addressed before exposure.

    Step IV

The case. The anonymised structure on which the reading was conducted. No identifying detail disclosed.

    Step V

The tension. Four signals that made visible the gap between what the project showed and what the system would read.

    Step VI

How the system reads. The four dimensions through which the institutional reading was conducted on this structure.

    Step VII

The verdict. A doctrinal statement at one of three levels: GO, NOT YET or NO GO. Followed by conditions for reconstitution where relevant.

    The verdicts

    Three verdicts. Three trajectories.

Each Reading published in this corpus closes with one of three verdicts. The verdict is not a recommendation. It is a structural statement. It documents the position of the structure at the moment of the reading.

    GO

The structure, as it stands, can enter exposure without major adjustment. Legibility, assignability and defensibility are already in place. The trajectory can be deployed.

    NOT YET

The trajectory is viable but must be architected before exposure. The five dimensions are not yet consolidated to withstand the examination that will follow. Prior architecture is required.

    NO GO

The structure, in its current configuration, cannot be defended. The verdict that best protects the value of the decision-maker, because it prevents irreversibility. Rare. Doctrinally essential.

The best mandate is sometimes the one that never began.

    The lexicon

    Institutional reading: the working lexicon

The Readings apply a precise vocabulary. Each term carries a structural meaning, distinct from its everyday sense. Read the words on the left. Do not let them drift into the words on the right.

    Institutional reading

The structural examination of a project before it becomes irreversible. It reads whether a project can be read, defended, assigned and sustained by the system that must authorise and uphold it. It precedes the compliance audit, the market study and the financial due diligence. It is not analysis.

    Institutional legibility

The property by which an institution can be assigned a governance, defended under regulatory examination, and assumed within a national or European educational system. A legible institution can be read by the authority before it is filed. It is not validity.

    Institutional defensibility

The capacity of a structure to hold under examination. A structure can be compliant and still indefensible, when the examination that follows a declaration goes further than the declaration itself. Defensibility is not compliance.

    Assignability

The property by which responsibility inside an institution can be attributed to a named, qualified holder. A governance that cannot be assigned cannot be defended, whatever its intentions.

    Exposure

The moment an institution becomes readable by the system, and by the public, as what it declares itself to be. Before exposure, a structure can be architected. After exposure, gaps between the announced and the demonstrable become irreversible. It is not urgency.

    Arché

Arché is purchased. It is the procedure under which the House conducts a complete institutional reading before exposure, and the only entry point to a reading. It delivers one verdict: GO, NOT YET or NO GO.

    The Arch

The symbolic threshold of the House. To enter under the Arch is to submit a project to institutional reading before it is exposed. The Arch marks passage, selection and transformation. It is not a step in a funnel.

    Decision before action

The doctrinal order the House holds. Architecture precedes execution. Determination precedes deployment. An institution is read before it is filed. Exposure never precedes structuring.

    Educational Diplomacy®

The structural discipline that determines whether an educational institution can enter France and Europe. It reads the conditions of defensibility, not the ambitions of a project. Educational Diplomacy® is the registered discipline of the House.

    Structural questions

The Readings of the House: five questions

What are the Readings of the House?

The Readings of the House are the public corpus of institutional readings conducted by Diligence Consulting, the House of Educational Diplomacy. Each Reading publishes the anonymised structural analysis of a real institutional case. Each Reading begins with a certainty, reveals the blind spot, examines the case, and delivers a doctrinal verdict at one of three levels: GO, NOT YET or NO GO.

Are these institutional readings real cases?

Yes. Each Reading published in this corpus is the anonymised version of an institutional reading actually conducted by the House. The certainty is the one the decision-maker held. The signals are the ones observed. The verdict is the one delivered. No identifying detail of the institution is disclosed. Only the doctrinal lesson is preserved.

How does the corpus relate to Arché?

Each Reading in this corpus is the public form of a reading originally conducted under Arché, the institutional reading procedure of the House. Arché is the only entry point through which an institution can obtain its own reading. The corpus shows what Arché produces. It does not replace it. Every institutional entry begins under the Arch.

Can I request an institutional reading of my own project?

Yes, through the Arché procedure. Arché is the published entry point of the House for institutional readings. It applies to any project facing a structuring decision before exposure: opening a campus, entering Europe, executing a sale, transitioning governance, requesting recognition. The Arché reading is conducted in confidence and delivers a GO, NOT YET or NO GO verdict.

Will more institutional readings be published?

Yes. The Readings of the House is an evolving public corpus. New Readings are added quarterly. Each Reading documents a structural friction that recurs across many institutions. The corpus is curated, not exhaustive. The selection is doctrinally deliberate, never opportunistic.
